Step-by-Step: Getting Started with Ledger Live
1. Download Ledger Live
Visit ledger.com/start and choose your operating system. Download the latest version of Ledger Live and install it on your device.
2. Connect Your Ledger Device
Plug your Ledger Nano S Plus, Nano X, or Stax into your computer using the included USB cable. If you're using a mobile device and Nano X, you can connect via Bluetooth.
3. Initialize the Device
Choose “Set up as new device” or “Restore from recovery phrase.” Follow the on-screen instructions to:
- Set a secure PIN code (4-8 digits)
- Generate and write down your 24-word recovery phrase
- Verify recovery phrase on the device
4. Pair Device with Ledger Live
Once your device is initialized, Ledger Live will detect it and begin synchronizing. You can now access the main dashboard and begin installing apps for different blockchains.
Managing Crypto Assets
Install Apps
Use the "Manager" tab in Ledger Live to install apps such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, or Solana. These apps allow your device to sign transactions specific to each blockchain.
Create Accounts
Go to "Accounts" → "Add account" → Select your crypto → Name it. Accounts allow you to view balances, transaction history, and manage that specific asset.
Receive Crypto
- Click “Receive” and select the account
- Verify the wallet address on both Ledger Live and your device screen
- Copy and share your verified public address
Send Crypto
- Click “Send” and enter the destination address
- Choose amount, set transaction fees
- Confirm transaction on your device
Staking & Earning
Ledger Live allows you to earn rewards by staking cryptocurrencies directly from your wallet. Supported assets include:
- Ethereum (ETH)
- Polkadot (DOT)
- Tezos (XTZ)
- Cosmos (ATOM)
Click on the "Earn rewards" section in Ledger Live, choose your crypto, and delegate it to a validator. Your assets remain in your control.
